Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing - The Secret is Out
This past summer, Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing was featured in the travel sections of the Vancouver Sun and the Toronto Star and in the blogs of Hello BC, the official site of Tourism BC, and Lee Abbamonte, Travel Expert.
The first article, written by Mark Sissons, appeared in the Vancouver Sun on August 1st, 2014 and was titled "A Slice of South Chilcotin Paradise - Accessible wilderness offers outdoor adventure on an epic sale". Mark Sissons stayed with us at Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing and enjoyed Tyax Adventures' Glacier Landing Tour and the Spruce Lake Hiking Tour on his trip. He says "The South Chilcotin may offer plenty of backcountry adventure. But you don't have to entirely rough it in the bush up here. Tyax Wilderness Resort and Spa is a luxurious retreat set on the shores of Tyaughton Lake that's easily accessible from Vancouver and Whistler by ground or air. Recently renovated, the resort now offers sufficient pampering - including state-of-the-art spa treatments - to help sore muscles recover from those challenging South Chilcotin trails". For his description of the locally sourced cuisine and day trips available at Tyax, read Mark Sisson's article about Tyax in the Vancouver Sun.
On August 21st, The Vancouver Sun ran a second article about Tyax Resort titled "Tyax Resort Best-Kept Secret of the Chilcotin Range - Colourful, pristine mountain range beckons", written by Gord Scott. Scott says "There's a surefire way to make anyone who lives in the outdoor mecca of Whistler green with envy - tell them you're going to Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing. This deluxe log cabin-style oasis in the wilds of the Chilcotin Range is where Whistlerites go to vacation. Pristine peaks and lakes, a full range of flora and fauna, stunning vistas and endless single-track mountain-bike trails have been the draw for years". Scott made the trip from Whistler to Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing with Tyax Adventures' owner, Dale Douglas, in his de Havilland Beaver float plane. Find out why Gord Scott thinks that Tyax is the "best-kept secret of the Chilcotin Range"
The release of the secret of the Chilcotin Range continued when, on September 2nd, Hello BC posted a blog titled "Adventures at Tyax Resort". In it, Janice Greenwood-Fraser says "It’s no secret that Whistler is a great place for a vacation. But where do Whistler residents go for their own vacation? That’s the secret that’s starting to crack open: they head to Tyax.". She describes the lodge as being "classically beautiful". Check out Janice's story about Tyax Adventures.
The Toronto Star ran an article featuring Tyax Adventures and the Glacier Landing Tour on September 11th, written by Scott Whalen. This article titled "Flightseeing: Flying high over B.C.'s Glaciers - It's sightseeing, by plane. And it's one of this country's best kept secrets" mentions Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing as being "a real jewel in B.C.'s crown". Read about Scott Whalen's experience of flightseeing over the South Chilcotin Mountains.
Lastly, on September 23rd, Lee Abbamonte posted a blog on his website titled "5 Awesome Things to do in and Around Whistler". Guess who made the list? That's right, Tyax Resort and the surrounding area was one of Abbamonte's "5 Awesome Things to do". He said "I could literally write 4-5 blog posts on the Tyax resort and associated activities I did there. I liked it that much. Sadly, I am behind on my posting so I will condense it as much as possible but want to make sure it's clear how awesome it is". To read the section of Lee Abbamonte's blog about Tyax.
So, that's it, the secret is out; Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing is an "awesome", "classically beautiful" lodge and a "real jewel in B.C.'s crown". With plenty of adventures to be had in our backyard of the Chilcotin Mountains and plenty of pampering available at the lodge, Tyax is a destination suited to everyone. We will continue to post any articles published in print and online in our blog. Stay tuned for more descriptive reviews of writer's escapes to Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing!
