Fishing at Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa
Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa is situated on Tyaughton Lake (“Lake of Jumping Fish” in the local language) and is known for its abundance of 3/4 lb. - 2 lb. rainbow trout.
Other species in nearby lakes and streams include Bull Trout, Kokanee and Eastern Brook Trout. Most fish weigh between 3/4 lb. and 3 lb., but 5 lb. Rainbows, 7 lb. Eastern Brook Trout and even 18 lb. Bull Trout have all been landed.
Like all recreation at Tyax, our fishing activities are varied to suit all ages, preferences, and skill levels. Even kids can fish, as rainbow trout from 8-12 inches can be caught right off the dock.
Most of our waters are ideal for fly-casting, but spin fishing and trolling are also available. No need to bring your own rod -- we’ve got all the gear necessary. Whether fly-casting or trolling, there's nothing more exciting than hooking your first fish.
**Please note guests over the age of 15 will be required to apply for a BC Freshwater Fishing license. This can be done at the Lodge.
