Getting to Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa

Your journey to Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa is part of the adventure. Located near Gold Bridge, BC the resort is readily accessible by ground or air, yet remote enough to ensure a truly genuine wilderness experience. 

 

**There is NO fuel available at the Lodge.  The closest place to fuel up is in Lillooet or Pemberton.

**The Sea to Sky Corridor is host to some exciting events this summer but they are likely to impact driving times on Highway 99 between Vancouver and Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa. The following is a list of these events, dates and sections of roads expected to be impacted:

Pemberton Festival - July 18,19,20 (Highway 99 between Vancouver and Pemberton will be impacted)

Iron Man (Whistler/Pemberton) - July 27 (Highway 99 between Whistler and Pemberton and the Pemberton Meadows Road, the access to Hurley River Forest Service Road, will be impacted)

Squamish Festival - August 8,9,10 (Highway 99 between Vancouver and Squamish will be impacted)

Slow Food Cycle (Pemberton) - August 17 (This will only impact the Pemberton Meadows Road for travel between Pemberton and the Hurley River Forest Service Road)

RBC Grand Fondo (Vancouver/Whistler) - September 6 (Highway 99 between Vancouver and Whistler will be impacted)

By Ground from Vancouver / Whistler via Lillooet

(350 km, 6 hrs 20 min / 230 km, 4 hrs 45 min)

  1. Drive North on Highway 99 towards Whistler.
  2. Drive past Whistler to Pemberton.
  3. Continue on Highway 99 (Duffy Lake Road) to Lillooet.
  4. Drive into Lillooet turning right on Main Street and left at Moha Road (just past Subway).
  5. Follow Highway 40 (Carpenter Lake Road*) towards Gold Bridge until you see the sign for Tyax.
  6. Go right (do not go to Gold Bridge) and follow Tyaughton Lake Road for 8 kilometers into Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa.

WARNING: The Carpenter Lake Road is a maintained Provincial Highway but there are unpaved and narrow sections; please be cautious of sharp corners and rocks on the road. Drive with caution & care. To check on the status of Hwy 40 check drivebc.ca

By Ground from Vancouver / Whistler via Pemberton Meadows Rd and Hurley River Forest Service Road

(250 km, 4 hrs 50 min / 130 km, 3 hrs 15 min):

  1. Drive North on Highway 99 towards Whistler.
  2. Drive past Whistler to Pemberton.
  3. Turn left into Pemberton and continue on Portage Road to Pemberton Meadows Road. 
  4. Turn left to stay on Pemberton Meadows Road
  5. Follow Pemberton Meadows Road for 21 km.
  6. Turn right on Lillooet Forest Service Road and continue 8.6 km.
  7. Turn right on to Hurley River Forest Service Road for 45.3 km.
  8. Continue onto Gun Lake Road S. and onto Carpenter Lake Road for 11.5 km.
  9. Turn left onto Tyaughton Lake Road for 8 kilometers into Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa

WARNING: The Hurley River Forest Service Road is a Wilderness Forest Service road that is only accessible during the summer months.  Travel is only recommended with a 4WD vehicle.  Please note: Rental vehicles may not be covered by insurance on this road.

By Ground from Kamloops via Lillooet

(275 km, 5 hours)

  1. Take the Trans Canada Highway West (#1) towards Cache Creek.
  2. In Cache Creek, take a sharp right onto Cariboo Hwy (Hwy 97N) towards Lillooet.
  3. Turn left onto Duffey Lake Road (Hwy 99S).
  4. Turn right to stay on Duffey Lake Road.
  5. Turn right onto Seton Lake Road towards Lillooet.
  6. Drive into Lillooet turning right on Main Street and left at Moha Road (just past Subway).
  7. Follow Highway 40 (Carpenter Lake Road) towards Gold Bridge until you see the sign for Tyax.
  8. Go right (do not go to Gold Bridge) and follow Tyaughton Lake Road for 8 kilometers into Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa.

By Air in a de Havilland Beaver Aircraft

Charter a flight in a de Havilland Beaver Aircraft with Tyax Adventures.  They offer flights to Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa from either Whistler or Vancouver Airport or Vancouver Harbour.  For more information or to book a flight, please contact Tyax Adventures.   

By Ground from Vancouver / Whistler via Seton Portage and the Douglas Trail Road (Highline Road)

300 km, 6 hrs 20 min / enter from Vancouver  *Not recommended

  1. Drive North on Highway 99 towards Whistler.
  2. Drive past Whistler to Pemberton.
  3. Continue straight on Highway 99 (Portage Rd) follow signs for Mount Currie  
  4. Turn left onto Main St/Portage Road for 38 km.
  5. Continue to follow Portage Rd to D’Arcy
  6. Slight left to stay on Portage Rd. 
  7. Turn left onto Highline Road.
  8. Turn left on Seton Road.
  9. Turn left toward S Shalath Road
  10. Take a sharp Left to stay on S Shalath Road
  11. Turn onto Carpenter Lake Road.
  12. Turn right onto Tyaughton Lake Road for 8 kilometers into Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa

WARNING: The Highline Road is a 24 km dirt road. Do not attempt this route without a 4 x 4 vehicle.
